There is a small office that consists of 5 computers, but the manager told me that her computer is the “main computer,” which acts as a server even though it has Windows XP Professional. The main confusing thing is the device that she is using to network them all together.

She is using a multi-port device, which faces the internet. Is this device a hub or a switch, or something entirely different. It was from Dell.

Trying to make my own proxy website and need to find out how to make it without it costing or me having to find a server.

I know how to code using the LAMP infrastructure, but I have never done so while serving a website on my own computer. If I set up apache and copy my website into the serving directory, will I be able to preview it by browsing to “http://localhost”? Please note that my ISP only gives me a dynamic IP so I cannot serve my website at the moment due to costs, but I would like to see if I can get the server running myself (allowing cgi scripts, etc.). All help is greatly appreciated!

How tro get rid of “The page cannot be refreshed without resending information to server” in jsp by still using Post method and calling window.location.reload()

how do i surf the internet without giving away my position/visits to my internet provider? do i need to use a proxy server?

I use Outlook 2003 on WinXP. My girlfriend uses the same. We both share a computer using our own, unique usernames (and hence have our own accounts).

How can my girlfriend update my Outlook calendar for me without me letting her log into my account? I have looked for solutions for weeks with no success. I am happy to install anything on WinXP or on a linux server to make this work, but other than installing Exchange or some odd commercial offerings, I cannot see a simple way to do this.

Is this possible? If so, how? My first guess was plugins to read/write iCal format calendars from my Outlook client, and providing my girlfriend with a web interface to the same iCal client, but I cannot see a way to make this transparently work with Outlook.

Finally, I can’t use a different client instead of Outlook (which would be the simplest option); I need all my appoitments in Outlook as I sync Outlook information with my phone.

Thank you for any suggestions!

i mean when i install a linux server version, what information can i access thro the server logs about the clients?im intending to do a project on tracking the user sessions for a set of webpages and reconstructing their paths and all such statistics like visit lenghts, their ip addresses by getting the information from the logs and writing cgi or php scripts.. this is a final year project… is this feasible? i mean will it involve enough work to be a project or is the work too less for a final yr project.. can i complete it within a span of 3 months. 4 of us are doing it… i wanted to know how much info is already available in the logs and how much more we need to do.. we want to output graphical statistics for the no. or users using it during a time span…
