I used a proxy server to visit some sites that my company either blocks or would not be happy about. However, when I went into my History in Internet Explorer, the sites I visited were visible! I clicked on the proxy server name in the history list and it then revealed the sites in a drop down sub menu. Does that mean they can tell which sites I visited or is this information only local to my machine? I thought proxies were supposed to hide that info? Can company’s still know where you visit even if you use a proxy? I heard that any monitoring firewall still sees where you are going and that it still has all the data unencrypted. Is that true?
