Server upgrade

Looking to update some of my older workstations with newer computers. However concerned with compatibility issues with Vista reputation. If forced to go with Vista do i need special version for work group/ server use?

IS it pointless or foolish to NOT leave your computer on 24//7?? Using Windows Home Server (WHS)? I was thinking of turning the server on just when I wanted to do a backup or leave it on 2-3 days at a time.

why files are not downloading and java script is not running on my Windows Server 2003 R2 and sound is not coming out even the drivers are installed….please help me…please

I want to run Microsoft Server in my network. But, I am not trying it untill I know it is something I want to run.
I installed it.
I am on the Administrator account. I registered it.I have a domain ROWESERVER.TLD. My Server name is ROWESERVER. I have a domain controller. I have aDNS server. Now, everytime I reboot my system, it gives me an error message “Some drivers did not successfully start. Check EventLog for more information.”
I click Manage your server. I see the Domain Controller and DNS server is installed as a role. I click Manage users and computers in Active Directory.
It says Naming information cannot be located because: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Under DNS Server, I click Manage. It has ROWESERVER on the left, and has an red X. On the right, it says Cannot contact the DNS Server. When I installed DNS Server, i click mange DSN Server, and it worked. But, when I rebooted, it doesn’t work.
What is wrong?

How do I install Virtual Tools?

I’m trying to run a server off my Windows Media Center PC, and have encountered a few problems. I’m running Apache 2.2.4, and PHP5, however, when I try to use MySQL, it installs fine, however nothing can connect to it, I tried installing an e-mail client, and it can’t connect to the MySQL, and when I tried to install phpBB on it, it said “An error has occurred during installation
The PHP configuration on your server doesn’t support the database type that you chose”

Any information you could provide me with to help would be great. Because someone I know told me it wouldn’t work on Windows XP Media Center.

Its a windows 2003 server running tomcat. How do you assign an external ip address to point to a particular folder.

Thanks>
Yeah its confusing. Someone asked me to do it. The problem is Im familiar how to do it in IIS, Tomcat on the other hand, Im not too familiar with.

I have root access and everything, but I’m new to server configuration and would like some pointers… Maybe someone can point me to a good website describing the basics of web admin with apache? But for right now, I especially need how to tell the version of Apache I’m running and where on the server the configuration files are located.
