I have an old dell laptop that i don’t use, i want to put windows home server on it. What does windows home server do? Can i use the dell as a server?. can i make websites and put them on that server? Like host my own sites? It has 2GB ram, 250GB HDD, Pentium dual core, and GMA x4500.

As I work on getting my Linux server up, the Naval spy ex of over a decade responds to tis clear act of independence and refusal to comply with their edicts to NOT have my own web and email server as well as dedicated server accounts with yet another attempt on my life. I don’t care. I’m going to do what MY GOD calls me to do, not what these wannabe gods (created beings) demand I do. It’s only a matter of time before these criminals crack my European server accounts…. I mean, what’s a little international crime for domestic terrorists who are told they have NO restrictions in what they can do to “achieve the mission”? I am runing a Windows Server 2003 machine with Windows Fax service installed. Windows based computers on the network can send a fax through the shared fax printer with no problem. How do I get an OSX laptop to use the shared fax printer?
Thanks but that mac website explains how to use the built in fax utility to send a fax using a local modem. I want to use my mac to send a fax using a shared fax printer on a windows PC.

I have a Dell laptop, 1.8ghz Intel Celeron M, 512 RAM, 80gb HD.
And I also have a 320gb external HD.
I want to know how I would go about hosting a decent Linux server using said components.
Is there anyway I can host a Linux server maybe off the external HD and run in through my Laptop? Or do I have to dual boot Linux and Windows? Or is it better to just ditch Windows and run the laptop as a server, as awkward as that seems. I’m pretty new at server configuration and Linux in general. I’d appreciate any help in the right direction.

Also I hear theres is a way to use USB thumb drives to expand memory if anyone knows.

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic and now I can go into Windows Mail and I can send and receive emails like I normally do on yahoo. My brother today got a new eMachines laptop from best buy now and I tried putting in the exact information from my toshiba into that eMacine. When I tried to send an email myself though after I clicked the Send and Receive button, it shows it almost fully loading and then it says there’s a problem connecting to the smtp server which is on there and my Toshiba laptop smtp.att.yahoo.com . Is there something I need to change? Both laptops are using the same email address rnnad@sbcglobal.net that my whole family uses. How come the eMachine laptop doesn’t let me send any emails and it says it won’t work? Both laptops both have Windows Vista Home Basic. There is nothing wrong with Vista and it rocks but how come I can’t send emails with the eMachine in Windows Mail? I’ve got the news group connected but still how do I get that eMachine to send emails?

OKay, the school gives us computers which we can use. They don’t let us do anything other then get information. ALL PROXY WEBSITES ARE BLOCKED so don’t say that please. If you know of any other ways to go around the locked sites just tell me thanks =).

I am trying to download and install Icast 2 on a remote Linux server. I have rights to the server and can also FTP or access CPanel remotely, but want to remotely execute commands on the Linux Server to install and configure the Icecast and other software. THANKS!!!
