I have a new drive in the server to replace the system drive but can’t use the drive removal wizard to remove the system drive. Anyone have any ideas? My system drive is currently a 1tb with 2 partitions – One for the OS and the rest for data stores. I’d like to get away from this and have data only on one drive and the OS on another. I can.

I have a windows home server with two 1 TB hard drives with replication on.
I want to add capacity and was thinking at adding a 2 TB external USB drive.
I am wondering whether the drive extender does the replication later or whether it will write to both drives at the same time, one SATA internal and one usb drive resulting in a speed degradation or whether it writes to the fastest and then sync when idle.

I know It’s a home server and has a lot of limitations but why such a huge price difference?

I would like to run a standard edition of SQL 2008 Server on Windows Home Server OS. Can it be installed and ran?

My guess is probably yes becasue Home Server OS is build on Windows 2003 Server SP2. Anyone know for sure?

Thank you.

I’m running a small network at home.
Comprised of a Windows server and several desktops running off of it.
I’m currently running Active Directory and other such servers.
Basically, I want to set it up so that all the users can access the same files at any computer they access.

So, if they make a document on computer A they can then go to computer B and find it in the same spot.

Suggestions to what I’m looking for? And how to set it up?

Thanks,
Dale

They sell dedicated computers for windows home server, and I am wondering if Microsoft makes you buy one of those to run home server, or if you can use any old computer/
