i have a test machine on which i have installed windows server 2003 and i have created an active directory with some users on it. i created the backup using ntbackup utility . now i wanted to restore that backup on the other machine with windows server 2003.
is it possible??
if not then what is the solution ???

i am trying to add a user with the name O’Connor as the surname. AD Accepts the apostrophe, however the account cannot logon to a Windows XP client. When i take out the apostrophe, the account can logon. Is it true that apostrophes are an illegal character in Windows logon username?

Hi, my hard drive recently wouldn’t start Windows and our backup appears to have failed recently. Is there a very simple way to copy all the active directory, domain controller, logon scripts etc from the old hard drive and make them active on the new drive?
Creating active directory templates is a great way to make sure that all new users get the same settings when they are created. You can build the template with all the groups and some of the other settings that they need. When a new person joins a department in your organization, you can just copy the template that has most of the right settings. I had to re-install my server (server01) from scratch, but before I re-installed it, I made sure I ran a backup. I did backup all system state, etc. After reinstalling my OS, i ran a restore and it failed. I need to know how to restore Active directory from a backup after re-installing my server os. Thank you.
