Hey what’s the best windows 2000 server?
And what is it?
is there one that i could have a couple 100 websites on it, and 1 very big main page which would need to hold allot of emails (like a few 1000- 10,000).
if i have the wrong product, what would u suggest?
I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server installation that is just completely hosed with malware applications that I have been unsuccessful removing. This Advanced Server is used to provide thin clients with access to a few windows app, but primarily to a DOS based app running on ANOTHER server (which is good).
I have come to the conclusion that I need to reload the OS from scratch.
What do I need to backup so that I can restore data without having to entering everything manually?
I want to reload the applications. That’s not a problem, but I don’t want to have to re-enter drive shares, user profiles, etc. Is there a best practices kind of document, a checklist, that I could use for what I need to capture BEFORE I blow everything away with a reformat?

I am using windows 2003 server for internet access to my clients I want to know which antivirus should i installed in this machine for best protection.
I’ve tried 2 methods so far. one is installing the windows component that supposedly does this task, but I wasn’t able to figure out how to configure it. my pc exists on a router which gives it a standard 192.168.1.### ip address. Do I have to log into the router to configure something.
the other method i tried was installing a TFTP program. it installed fine but again, i wasn’t able to configure the details so that i can access my pc from a remote location. this program also stated that using an regular FTP client won’t be able to access my TFTP server because it’s two different protocols. I just want to be able to access my music, videos, and photos when I’m away from home. I keep my pc on constantly.
I’ve heard that winxppro comes with a remote access program as well. I need help configuring this as well because I am not happy with the remote access program i’m using at the moment.
I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced online back up service for our server.
I am looking for minimal downtime and preferably a MS “best practice” situation.

I have a laser printer that I want to connect to our server to make it so everybody can print to it from Terminal Services. I have looked at several print servers made by linksys, d-link, etc but everyone says they have problems with setup. Can anyone suggest a good, reliable print server? Thanks!
