A coworker always takes her kids to the dr. for everything and they are on antibiotics constantly. I want to talk to her but she’s just weird/psycho. Personally I think she has Münchausen syndrome by proxy. Here’s my question: I need stats, info, facts about giving children too much antibiotics. Seriously these kids finish their meds and 2 days later she’ll have them back at the dr. for another round.

Yeah you are right. Be careful what you tell her, because most mothers get very defensive when you suggest that their moneyhungry prescription giving doctors don’t know best.

It sounds like her children have very intense immunity deficiencies, which all stem from improper diets. If they were eating less refined sugar, microwaved food, and fast food, then they would be able to fight off the overgrowth of bacteria which is probably causing them pain.

Local unpateurized honey is the best antibiotic. It is also very good for allergies and for topical use on wounds.

I am also appauled at the mothers out there who fail to take responsibility for their childrens health and wellbeing and rely on the capitalistic medical establishment to “heal” their children.

You’re right, they probably take too many antibiotics. Most infections are viral which do not benefit from antibiotics. You do not know the specific health history of this family, however, and her kids can have some sort of medical problems which warrant this many meds. Too many antibiotics can cause resistance, and side-effects (allergies, light sensitivity, diarrhea, and some more rare but more serious side effects)
One thing to mention about honey that the previous poser brought up, its not advised for babies due to risk of botulism.
