I am looking for a free network information manager that I can use on my local area network with 2-3 computers.
The computer I will use as the server (host machine) has:
Internet Information Services for Windows XP Pro,
Windows XP Pro Ver. 2002 SP2,
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8,
Microsoft FrontPage 2003.
The Information Manager should include:
1). Notes/journal
2). Address books
3). Lists (including task lists/to do lists)
4). Calendar (including Appointments and meeting
Reminders, birthdays, etc)
I should be able to access all of the above from any of the computers.
Thanks!!
Well, yeah, I know of a fantastic information manager that bundles email, contacts, calendar, to-do list, notes, USENET news groups, and RSS feeds. Plus it makes Outlook seem pathetic in comparison. It’s open-source and completely legally free.
Now for the bad news… it’s called Kontact, and it’s only available for the KDE desktop environment (Linux). Linux distributions that come bundled with the software include Knoppix, Mandriva, and SUSE.
When KDE4 comes out (soon) Kontact will be available for Windows (and Macs)
